On Wednesday, 15th November 2023, the Nathaniel Idowu Foundation conducted a Surgical and Medical Outreach at the N.O. Idowu Community Health Centre (NOICH), Eniosa-Onibepe,
Ibadan, Oyo State.
This community outreach initiative, organized in collaboration with the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and University College Hospital, Ibadan, was directed at the healthcare needs of the community and its environs. The outreach event catered for the various healthcare requirements of men, women, and children.
It was designed to provide free healthcare consultations and services, health education, and awareness programs, and subsidized surgical procedures. The initiative underscored the Centre’s dedication to elevating the health centre’s activities to global standards showcasing the substantial support extended by the Nathaniel Idowu Foundation and the collaborating institutions.
The event recorded a significant turnout, with a total of 280 patients registered. Among these, 89 were male, and 191 were female. The outreach featured a comprehensive array of medical specialties and consultations, including Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Family Medicine, ENT,
Cervical Cancer Screening, General Surgery, Dietetics, Public health nursing, Urology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The outreach’s impact extended beyond physician consultations, with a total of 354 ‘finished consultant encounters’ (FCE) achieved during the event. Additionally, essential medications were provided with 559 drugs dispensed throughout the outreach.
NOICH’s collaborative efforts with the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and University College Hospital exemplify a strategic approach to community health. By addressing the primary healthcare concerns of the community, the N.O. Idowu Health centre in collaboration with Oasis Health Foundation aims to create a ripple effect, attracting potential collaborators and partners.
This synergistic collaborative effort is pivotal in securing support for future outreach programs as well as fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
